MenoFix™ Product Info:

The unique Santegra®’s product - MenoFix™ is a complex of vitamins and herbal ingredients, which are traditionally used in folk medicine to ease premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and normalize menstrual cycle.

Every woman of childbearing age feels changes in body’s functions once a month. Some of the women can cope with it easily, but for some – this time is a real nightmare!
Researches show that about 85% of women aged 18-50 have premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms. There are more than 150 such symptoms.
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists the symptoms include: abdominal pains and discomfort;  breast swelling and tenderness; food cravings; depression; irritability; anxiety; mood swings; decreased alertness, inability to concentrate; headaches; aching muscles and joints; sleep pattern changes; etc.
These symptoms are often accompanied by heavy bleeding, fatigue, lack of energy, feeling of discomfort.
Even worse is when menstrual cycle is not regular – waiting for the next period can be very stressful.
And it is repeating regularly – every month!

It is much easier to cope with these difficult periods in your life if you carry out some simple rules, recommended by doctors:

• Try for 30 minutes of moderate physical activity three to four times each week. Because long, steady exercise causes a release of endorphins, continuous production of which appears to diminish the PMS symptoms.
• During the period eat small frequent meals: divide your usual food intake in 5 potions. Several small meals can help regulate your blood sugar aiding in keeping your mood swings to a minimum.
• Try to avoid simple sugars, alcohol, caffeine, salt, especially if you experience edema and sore breasts.
• Do not forget about fruit and vegetables – the source of vitamins and dietary fiber.
• Often the cause of irregular menstrual cycle is malnutrition. Specific diets also may be associated with increased risk of amenorrhea.
• Researches show that the diet of women with irregular menstruation contains lots of carbohydrates and lacks of fats, protein and total calories in comparison with those with regular period. (1,2,3)
• Stress increases the “stress hormone” cortisol level, which is associated with reproductive hormones. The excess level of cortisol can cause menstrual disorder. (4) One of the studies showed that the amenorrheic women’s body produced more cortisol under stress when compared with women who menstruate regularly. (5)
• Smoking may contribute to amenorrhea. A survey study found that young women smoking one pack or more per day were more likely to be amenorrheic than other women. (6)

Is there a miracle remedy to reduce the regular disaster before the menopause arrives? Yes, without a doubt.

Effective and safe Santegra®’s product MenoFix™ is developed to make every woman every day feel great!

MenoFix™ contains:

Vitamin A is an antioxidant, plays vital roles in vision, growth, reproduction, the proper functioning of the immune system. Vitamin A can suppress the PMS symptoms of acne and oily skin.

Vitamin C is one of the key nutritional antioxidants, it protects the body from free radical damage. Vitamin C boosts the immune system, is essential for the synthesis of collagen, important for healthy blood vessels, and the absorption of iron.

Vitamin E is one of the most potent antioxidants that protect body cells from destruction by free radicals. MenoFix™ contains vitamin E in a form of d-alpha tocopheryl succinate - the natural form of vitamin E, which is more active and better absorbed. Natural vitamin E may be as much as twice as bioavailable as synthetic vitamin E.
Vitamin E helps prevent cardiovascular diseases. Supplementation with vitamin E has demonstrated significant reduction of PMS symptoms (such as sore breasts, nervous tension, headache, fatigue, depression, and insomnia) in different studies. One of the studies showed reduced pain in a placebo-controlled trial of 100 young women with primary dysmenorrhea.

B vitamin complex is highly recommended for every woman, especially if she is under stress, or taking contraceptives, estrogen containing medications or tranquilizers.
B vitamins are synergistic - together they deliver more health benefits to the body than taken separately.

Tiamin (Vitamin B1) is called energy and optimism vitamin; it helps maintain healthy nervous system, essential for converting food into energy, plays an important role in maintaining muscle tone; stabilizes the appetite.

Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) functions as a coenzyme for many metabolic processes in the body, in red blood cell formation and nervous system function. Riboflavin is involved in energy production, essential for the immune system, for the eye health.

Niacin (Vitamin B3) plays a significant role in many aspects of energy metabolism and nervous system function. One of the most common uses for supplemental niacin is cholesterol regulation. Niacin lowers heart disease risk

Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) has a wide variety of functions in the body, especially in the immune and nervous systems. It is involved in the manufacture of several neurotransmitters, and plays an important role in regulating mental processes and mood. It is also essential for the maintaining of a normal homocysteine level.

Vitamin B6 may reduce many of the side effects of PMS, such as mood swings, cramping, water retention, acne, and an overall feeling of physical and emotional fatigue. Because vitamin B6 is essential for the production of neurotransmitters in the brain (especially serotonin, which is involved in regulation of emotions, mood, anxiety, sleep), it may be of value in treating depression. A recent review of randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials of vitamin B6 in the treatment of premenstrual syndrome concluded that the treatment significantly relieves premenstrual depressive symptoms.

Folic acid (Vitamin В9) plays an important role in DNA and RNA synthesis, production of red blood cells, for the nervous system and cardiovascular health.
Vitamin B9 is essential for maintaining normal homocysteine level.  Recent studies in elderly people suggest a link between folic acid, homocysteine, ageing, depression, and dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Folate concentrations in serum and cerebrospinal fluid fall and plasma homocysteine rises with age, perhaps contributing to the ageing process.
Folic acid is important in the nervous system at all ages, it affects mood, cognitive and social function, but in elderly people deficiency contributes to ageing brain processes, increases the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Some studies have suggested that there is a relationship between elevated homocysteine levels and cardiovascular disease.
Folate supplementation has been shown to normalize increased homocysteine blood levels.

MenoFix™ contains folic acid in the form of Metafolin™ - the most effective natural form of folate.
Supplementation with Metafolin™ is the same as enriching the diet with a naturally occurring folate. Furthermore, if Metafolin™ is ingested, it requires no extra steps by the body to be absorbed and enter circulation. Metafolin™ has been shown to be an ingredient of high bioavailability.

As it is shown on the picture 1 folic acid have to go through 5 stages before it becomes L-Methylfolat and can be absorbed by the body. Its bioavailability is 61%. Metafolin™  is L-methylfolate itself, so its bioavailability is 95%.

In humans, L-methylfolate is the predominant form in circulation and of transport to the tissues and it is the only folate that can cross the bloodbrain barrier.

Pic.2

The brain tissue is provided with a tight endothelial layer on vessels that acts as a filter for substances that reach the brain through the blood stream. This filter is called the bloodbrain barrier and it defenses central nervous system from the foreign substances.
Folate is essential for the brain.  As it is shown on the picture 2 Metafolin™ easily crosses the bloodbrain barrier and nourishes the brain, but folic acid cannot cross the brain barrier.

Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) is essential for proper energy metabolism, cell replication, for the genetic material in cells known as DNA and RNA, blood cell formation, nervous system maintenance and heart health.
Vitamin B12 acts with folic acid and vitamin B6 to control homocysteine levels. An excess of homocysteine is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and potentially other diseases such as osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s disease.
Vitamin B12 deficiency causes fatigue and is associated with cognitive impairment.

Iron is an essential component of the hemoglobin molecule. Heavy menstrual flow can deplete the body’s iron stores, which can cause iron deficiency anemia. Some researchers also believe that chronic iron deficiency may cause heavy bleeding.

Iodine is essential for healthy thyroid function. Iodine deficiency impairs the development of the central nervous system for normal intellectual functioning, decreases the mental ability and physical endurance, affects the woman’s ability to have a pregnancy, and increases foetal loss.

Zinc is an essential component of around 200 enzymes that are involved in a range of actions within the body. Zinc is needed for a healthy immune system. Zinc also plays a role in the regulation of appetite, stress level, taste, and smell. It is essential for normal growth and development, and for most aspects of reproduction. Zinc is required for synthesis and action of many hormones, including sex hormones. Zinc levels may be low in women with PMS.

Selenium is a potent antioxidant, which defends body cells from free radical damage, it is essential for the immune system, has cardioprotective activity, and may help protect the body from cancer.
Selenium+GPM™ is a nutritional ingredient especially developed for better absorption and increased safety. A proprietary, multi-stage fermentation process is used to create its Glyco Protein Matrix. This process transforms selenium, yeast and probiotics from a simple admixture into a fully enrobed, food-bound system that greatly improves the absorption of the mineral by the body.
The tests showed that Selenium+GPM™ was a vastly superior antioxidant than other forms of selenium. Selenium+GPM™ was 64 times better as an antioxidant than selenomethionine.
A clinical bioavailability study conducted at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, an academic affiliate of UCLA, demonstrated that Selenium+GPM™ contained greater clinically significant serum levels than typical selenium ingredients, a key indicator of bioavailability.

image3_menofix

As it is shown on the picture selenium values were nearly identical at the start of the study. The GPM product outperformed the USP product at almost every time interval.

Copper helps protect the cardiovascular, skeletal, and nervous systems. Copper is required for red and white blood cell maturation, iron transport, bone strength, cholesterol metabolism, myocardial contractility, glucose metabolism, brain development and immune function. Copper plays a key role in the development and maintenance of healthy skin and hair.

The main active ingredient in MenoFix™ is chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus).
Chaste tree (vitex) has been used in medicine for centuries; one of the first specific records of its medical use is by Hippocrates in the 4th Century BC. Vitex has been traditionally used to treat a number of differing medical problems, but with particular emphasis on menstrual disorders and related hormonal problems. In Europe, vitex is now recommended more often than any other herb for relieving the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.
Modern research has shown that chaste tree berry extract is beneficial for woman body’s hormonal balance, helps to normalize menstrual cycle, can prevent reproductive organ diseases, reduces the symptoms of PMS and can be effective in treatment of some forms of infertility. Vitex is also successfully used in disorders associated with menopause and can help regulate menstrual cycle after taking contraceptives.

MenoFix™ contains standardized chaste tree berry extract (0.5% total agnusides and 0.15% aucubin).
The recommended daily dosage is 150 – 500 mg of chaste tree berry extract; MenoFix™ contains 500 mg of standardized chaste tree berry extract.

Another herb ingredient in MenoFix™ is Black cohosh (Cimicifuga foetida).
It has traditionally been used by Native Americans to relieve menstrual cramps and "female complaints". Black cohosh has positive influence on female reproductive system; it is popular for treating symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, such as mood swings, breast tenderness, and menstrual pain.
Black cohosh helps to balance the hormones, which may benefit women with premenstrual syndrome. Black cohosh has antispasmodic properties that may lessen menstrual discomforts, such as cramps and menstrual pains. With its mildly sedative and relaxing effect, Black Cohosh can help to reduce anxiety and nervousness.

The active constituents in black cohosh are triterpene glycosides called 27-deoxyacetin.

MenoFix™ contains standardized black cohosh root extract (8% triterpene glycosides (as 27-deoxyactein)).
