RestAid™ Product Info:

RestAid™ is a new Santegra®’s product with calming and anti-stress activity.

Stress is a real phenomenon of society in "industrialized" countries. Cyracos® brings a traditional and efficient answer against stress and its associated symptoms.

In France, one person out of three – partly owing to settlement, usage of the car and environmentally – are familiar with perceived negative stress. Stress is none other than the inability in which a person is faced with bringing on an intense accumulation of tension.

The European community estimates between 3 and 4% of the GDP is the amount owed to these problems. In Europe, stress is responsible for 30% of leaving a job (IWO source). The charge of stress – cost of health, professional instability, accidents – is estimated at 20 billion euro in Europe (source: WHO).
For information only, the professional stress in Switzerland, including medical expenses, wages and loss of production linked to absences for reasons of stress, costs 700 € by wage earner per year (source SECO).

In the United States, the expense of stress is estimated at 200 billion dollars (source: International Labour Organization).
In Quebec, in 15 years, the stress related reasons of absenteeism crossed from 2% to 33%. This stress then generates biological repercussions as well as sociological and economic.

Treatments exist to fight against stress, such as tranquilizers or sleeping drugs. But these medicaments are not without side effects. They can cause dependency in the long term and therefore do not eliminate the cause of stress.
That's why we are more and more turning to natural solutions, and particularly to the use of plants. Among plants most used against nervous disturbances, Lemon balm particularly interested Berkem. Its leaves have been used since Antiquity for their comforting properties.

Numerous researches were performed to determine what the active molecules of Lemon Balm were. All arrive at the same conclusion: the comforting activity of the Lemon balm leaves results from a synergy between all the constituents of the plant (called totum in herbal medicine - all the constituents of a plant which provides functional properties.) and not of a constituent particularly.

Berkem developed Cyracos® an extract of Lemon balm leaves. The technique of the manufacturing process respects the totum of the plant.
The composition of an extract can vary in an important way depending on the manufacturing process. Thanks to his know-how in plant extraction, Berkem knew how to improve the particular composition of Cyracos®; the effectiveness against stress was validated by a scientific study.
Berkem therefore guarantees a traditional and active extract.

What is Cyracos®

Born from the research and know-how of the Berkem group, French specialist of plant extraction since 1964, Cyracos® preserves the beneficial effects of Lemon balm in a plant concentrated solution with proven anti-stress effectiveness.

Cyracos® is a plant extract acquired from Lemon balm leaves of the species Melissa officinalis L. Endowed with a particular composition, Cyracos®

The manufacturing process of Cyracos® was thoroughly studied to guarantee an extract preserving all the active components of the Lemon balmCyracos® has a constant content of hydroxycinnamic acids guaranteeing this totum.
This family of molecules has been the object of numerous scientific studies. Among health effects shown and acknowledged by the researchers, they have particularly noted the anti-oxidant power of hydroxycinnamic acids.
has been noted for its anti-stress properties demonstrated in a clinical study. leaves, more commonly called totum in herbal medicine.

Cyracos® is a plant extract of Lemon balm leaves, which preserves the qualities of the plant.

The calming activity of Lemon balm leaves are acknowledged by the scientific world today.

Traditionally used for its beneficial effects on health, lemon balm has also been studied in numerous scientific works.

Sedative and anti-stress activity

Among these beneficial effects, researchers demonstrated the anxiolytic activity of lemon balm extract, both on animals and humans.
In 1980, initial scientific works demonstrated the neurotropic activity of this plant.
Scientific studies recently showed, with the aid of various behavioural tests, that lemon balm extract had a sedative neurotropic activity. This anxiolytic activity was confirmed on a group of healthy volunteers subjected to a stress. This study shows a statistically significant increase of individual calm and statistically significant reduction of the anxiety in subjects supplemented with lemon balm extract.

The European Commission and ESCOP (European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy) acknowledge the use of lemon balm today to relieve nervous disorders (insomnia and agitation).

Antioxidant activity

Lemon balm was studied for its antioxidant effects. Studies have brought to light the strong antioxidant power of certain molecules present in lemon balm: the family of hydroxycinnamic acids and particularly rosmarinic acid.

Antiviral properties

In 1978, a team of researchers identified the antiviral properties of lemon balm aqueous extract. The activity of lemon balm on the herpes simplex virus is widely documented today.

Antibacterial and antifungal properties

Finally, it was shown that lemon balm essential oil is antibacterial and antifungal.

Supplementary works were carried out to identify the constituents of Lemon balm leaves to find the origin of its activity. The findings did not identify active molecules, or families of active molecules. On the other hand, these tests concluded that there is a synergy between the different constituents of the Lemon balm leaves. This conclusion underlines the importance to keep the totum of the plant during the extraction process.

Thanks to its expertise in extraction, Berkem developed Cyracos®, a whole extract of Lemon balm leaves. Indeed, Cyracos® is manufactured via a traditional process, developed with the intention of preserving all the plant’s identity in the extract in comparison with the raw material. Berkem
therefore guarantees the effectiveness of the extract.

Berkem preserves the natural benefits of Lemon balm in order to guarantee both, a perfect traceability, and a quality extract.

To guarantee a constant quality, Cyracos® contains the following molecules:

-  Hydroxycinnamic acids,
- A particular hydroxycinnamic acid – rosmarinic acid – known in the scientifical world for its health benefits.
